Psi Chi is the National Honor Society for psychology. The University of Alabama has an active chapter in the national society. Requirements for membership include the following:

• Completion of at least 3 semesters of college coursework.

• Completion of 9 hours of coursework in Psychology.

• Registration of Major or Minor in Psychology or related discipline.

• Minimum Overall GPA of 3.3. (based on top 35% ranking)

• Minimum Psychology GPA of 3.3.

• Two-thirds affirmative vote by chapter members.

Around February the applications are reviewed by the UA chapter and new members are inducted officially into Psi Chi in April.

Induction into Psi Chi grants you a lifelong membership to this international organization that exists to recognize scholastic achievement, and to encourage leadership, research, and creativity. With this membership you will receive international recognition for academic excellence in psychology. In addition, there is more than $400,000 available in annual awards, grants, and scholarships. Psi Chi actively helps members identify and obtain psychology-related careers. And so much more.

Here at UA, we have an active Psi Chi chapter that serves as a resource for psychology majors to learn about psychology, its different career paths, and how to get involved and meet other psychology students and faculty on campus! This all happens through monthly meetings, panels, events, and volunteer opportunities.
